Sound Design

Just as the scenic designer creates the world of the play visually, the sound designer does this sonically. Some scripts will contain a list of sounds that are needed in the course of a play. It is the sound designer’s job to compile these sound cues. In addition, they also work with the director to discover how they might enhance the show with music or perhaps other sounds that were not mentioned in the script. Together, this adds to the overall experience of a show. Mikhail Fiksel, sound designer for Fish Men, talks to us about his work as a sound designer:
